What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned so far as a business owner?

For me, there are two lessons. First, no business is “easy.” Whatever you do, it’s hard work. Second, when you come right down to it, it’s all about healthy relationships. No matter what your business is, you need to connect on a personal level, and understand the needs and wants of the people you are serving. That’s why we say, “it’s as personal to us as it is to you.”

How is Itzkowitz Law different from other law firms in Florida?

We take your case personally and treat you with the respect you deserve. We work hard and go the extra mile. Clients have my cell phone and there is no day or time I will not speak to them. We understand our client’s schedules may not allow for them to meet us during the week, or during the day. So we will meet with them on weekends, early mornings, later at night, on holidays, or whenever is best for them.

What’s a common misconception people have about working with a lawyer?

There are quite a few, unfortunately. But for me, the biggest misconception is the idea that big companies always win against the “little guy.”

Let’s say you have a personal injury case against a huge corporation. A lot of people think “What chance do I have to win a case against the big boys?”

Well, you have a great chance IF you have obtained good evidence, witnesses, and everything else you need to prove it. That is why we work hand in hand with our clients to get the outcomes they deserve.

And, of course, it’s an absolute must to have a zealous advocate on their side who has the experience to handle their matter. A lot of people just hire a billboard lawyer and end up extremely disappointed in their attorney or the outcome of their case because the person they assume they’re hiring is not actually the one handling their case.

At Itzkowitz Law, I am intimately familiar with each and every one of our client’s cases and we work diligently to get a full and fair result for our clients.

What’s your best piece of advice for anyone who’s currently in law school?

Law school is a grind so stay focused and don’t procrastinate. For instance, during long lectures, use them to gauge how well you understand the material. And when you need to do something, get moving. The best way to get started is to start reading at least a week ahead before a class starts. That way, you’ll be on top of things and won’t feel as much pressure. Do not fall behind, and prepare as much as possible to give yourself the best chance to succeed.

What do you love most about your job?

Every day is a different challenge. No two cases are alike just like no two clients are alike. So I approach each individually and work as hard as possible for my clients. In the end, winning a case is great because you know how much it means to your client and how much it changes their life. For me, that self-satisfaction is what it’s all about.
