Shipping Container Residential Project Coming Soon to Downtown St. Pete

Affordable housing is about to be an option in downtown St. Petersburg, courtesy of container homes. St. Pete-based Path Communities, the developer of a micro-home community of repurposed shipping containers, announced plans for a 31-unit micro-apartment project built entirely out of recycled corrugated steel.

The proposed 31-unit community — dubbed Path Communities at Booker Creek — will be built on 0.37-acres near Tropicana Field, at the southwest corner of Burlington Avenue and 17th Street North.

According to 83 Degrees, all units will be one-bedroom, one-bath, 320 square-foot rentals leasing for around $800 to $1,200 with utilities.

Carbon Design & Architecture in St. Pete and Sarasota is the project’s designer, and the general contractor is Stress Free Construction in Tampa.

Completion is anticipated by the end of 2022.
