Tampa International Airport Hits Record Passenger Count

TPA resumes service to London on British Airways

This week has been historic for Tampa International Airport. On Sunday, November 14, the center served 72,346 passengers. That is a single day record for the airport and a 9% increase from passengers served on the same day in 2019.

As passenger counts continue to rise during the holidays, TPA debuted their new, innovative Blue Express Curbsides exclusively for customers without checked bags. It allows passengers to get to and from their gates faster, bypassing the ticketing counters or bag claim levels. Blue Express Curbsides is a time-saving feature that improves customer experience and is exclusively available for Tampa International Airport passengers. This is the first of its kind and unavailable at other airports across the United States.

You will find this addition on TPA’s Blue Side, accessible to passengers flying American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Copa Airlines, Cayman Airways and Swift Air.

Another exciting update for the airport is that on Monday, November 14, TPA reinstated their connection to Europe with nonstop service to London, courtesy of British Airways. This is exciting news for the airport due to the fact that Europe is their second largest visitor market behind Canada, bringing in $150 million of economic impact.

We’re excited to watch TPA continue to innovate and grow in the coming months. It is our favorite airport, after all. Stay tuned to Business in Tampa for more updates from Tampa International Airport.
