USF Health Morsani College of Medicine Receives $5 Million Donation from Florida Philanthropist

USF College of Medicine Downtown Tampa

The University of South Florida Health program has received a generous $5 million donation from Timothy Ubben, a Floridian Philanthropist and two-time donor to USF.

Ubben is a Naples resident known for founding Lincoln Capital Management, based in Chicago. His gift, donated earlier this week, will go towards creating the Ubben Family Center for Pulmonary Fibrosis, located inside of USF Health Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa.

This donation will also help the college take steps towards further researching pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease that results when the lung tissue is damaged. Ubben’s original gift to USF of $1 million was used to create the Ubben Family Pulmonary Research Laboratory and support similar lung damage research.

“It is incredible to see such amazing generosity from Mr. Ubben in such a short time,” USF President Rhea Law shared. “I am confident that Dr. Herazo-Maya and his research team will make great gains in fighting pulmonary fibrosis as a result of this important gift.”
