Ted Boscaino and his family, the innovative people behind the company Wine Stream, are restoring and bringing a 1908 cigar factory on North Albany Avenue back to life.

This time, the factory will be home to their business operations, a beautiful wine bar, a pizza parlor, and more.

Despite making progress on transforming the Pendas and Alvarez Cigar Factory in West Tampa, Boscaino, along with his three brothers and father have experienced roadblocks that slowed the progress of this project.

A recent article in FOX 13 detailed how their plans to already be open were rerouted due to the magnitude of the restorations.

For instance, 43 new, triple-pane windows were installed on the first floor which came with a million-dollar price tag.

Not to mention, applying for and receiving permits from the city to ensure the 114-year-old building is safe and up to code created challenges of its own.

Despite all of this, Boscaino is confident that restoring this factory to its historic glory, including the 120-foot clock tower, and bringing in a new business will revitalize the West Tampa area.

Wine Stream is a Tampa-based company that creates kegged wine, and what they deem as the future of the wine industry. The cigar factory will be their home base where they’ll turn out kegs of Italian wine for restaurants, bars, and hotels, for example.

The first floor of the cigar factory is home to the wine bar and pizza parlor where patrons will enjoy fine wine and delicious food.

An Italian market will be open on the second floor and the third floor of the building will include event and office space.

A grand opening date has not been set.
