There’s a new airline in town. Eurowings Discover, the leisure airline division of the Lufthansa Group, touched down at Tampa International Airport for the first time ever on Thursday. This event marks the first non-stop connection to the European Union since before the pandemic started. The direct service from Tampa to Frankfurt, Germany will now operate consistently, four times per week.
The return of this flight route is a big economic booster for Tampa Bay. With everything this city has to offer, Tampa has always been popular among German tourists and others in neighboring regions.
The new Eurowings Discover flight is the second to restart trans-Atlantic service since the pandemic started in March of 2020. British Airways resumed service to London back in November. Edelweiss Airways is also slated to continue non-stop service from TPA to Zurich in March of 2022.
