GOOOOAL! Water Street Tampa Has Sports Bar in Works Across From Amalie Arena

Tampa Bay Lightning fans (and event-goers) will soon have a new spot to pre-game. A sprawling Yard House is going up across from Amalie Arena on the corner once home to Ferg’s Live.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, real estate development group Water Street Tampa (the firm behind the likes of Sparkman Wharf, JW Marriott Naked Farmer and Asher) filed plans early this month for a 16,400-square-foot building at Channelside Drive and Nebraska Avenue.

Yard House is destined to be a hit with 100-plus beers on tap, an expansive menu of beloved bar food and classic rock in the speakers.

Water Street Tampa is an endeavor of Strategic Property Partners, a partnership between Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Bill Gates’ Cascade Investment. Phase I of the planned $3.5 billion revamp of downtown is nearing completion. Yard House is expected to be part of Water Street Tampa’s Phase II.
